With the sun shining on the peaceful West Sussex village of Walberton, all seems set perfectly for the start of the new cricket season. For those who don’t know Walberton, it’s a small, picturesque village located between the thriving city of Chichester and the ancient castle town of Arundel.
In the heart of the Walberton is the beautiful village green which is surrounded by trees and has a very welcoming feel. On Sundays in the summer you may find the light hearted cricket team enjoying the sunshine and being cheered on by the large group of local supporters who follow the team home and away. But despite the tranquility and great support, the long winter has taken its toll on the team with a few of the key players picking up troublesome injuries which looks set to leave the team worryingly short of bowlers.
Walberton CC has a long history and despite being a small village, it produces a team each year to compete against other local village sides. This is largely down to the excellent running of the club, as well as the enthusiastic support and relaxed team spirit. The players vary in ability from rare brilliance to truly mediocre but an enjoyment of the game is the key attribute throughout the team.
The season is now underway so if you miss the sound of leather on willow or just fancy getting out in the fresh air a bit more then get in touch.
