Joan celebrates 50 Years of making the cricket teas!!!

(and Walberton won!)

Joan Jackson celebrates 50 years of making cricket teas for Walberton with her son Chris, grandson Nick, and the rest of the Walberton team. The day was a big thank you to Joan and included a presentation and tributes from honorary guests and attracted local and regional press coverage.

On the field, Walberton were unusually dominant over a Boxgrove side who have taken most of the spoils in recent encounters. Boxgrove batted first but amazingly slumped to 16 for 6 at one point. It was feared that at the game would be over before the press even arrived but the tail put up a bit of a fight and stumbled along to 60 all out.

In reply, Walberton lost two quick wickets but Murray remained solid at one end whilst Chris Jackson blasted away at the other end. Fittingly, the players were called in for tea with Walberton needing just ten to win, and on the resumption it was Joan's son Chris who smashed the winning runs with another big six.
